The Challenge
A fast-growing German SaaS company had built a project management platform used by teams across Western Europe. Following strong inbound interest from Czech businesses, they decided to launch a fully localized Czech version of their product.
Their initial attempt used a combination of Google Translate and a freelance general translator. The result was technically intelligible but tonally wrong — formal where it should have been conversational, awkward in key UI moments like onboarding prompts and error messages, and inconsistent across different sections of the product. Czech beta users flagged the language quality as a trust concern.
The client needed a complete overhaul: native-quality Czech that felt like the product had been built for Czech users, not translated for them.
What We Did
Czech Localization conducted a full audit of the existing translation before beginning work, identifying 340 specific issues across four categories: terminology inconsistency, register mismatch, untranslatable idioms handled incorrectly and UI string length violations causing display errors.
We then developed a dedicated Czech style guide and terminology glossary for the client, covering their core product vocabulary, tone of voice guidelines for Czech business users and rules for handling character limits in UI components.
The full localization covered:
-
UI strings across the entire platform (6,200 words)
-
Onboarding flow copy including tooltips, welcome messages and progress prompts (1,800 words)
-
Error messages and system notifications (900 words)
-
Help centre articles for Czech users (2,400 words)
-
Onboarding email sequence — 6 emails (700 words)
All work was delivered in the client's existing translation management system (TMS) with inline comments explaining culturally specific decisions and alternative options where relevant.

The Challenge
A Polish neobank with 1.2 million users across Poland and Slovakia had secured regulatory approval to launch in the Czech Republic. Their digital banking platform — covering current accounts, instant payments, savings products and a personal finance dashboard — required complete localization into Czech before their launch deadline.
The challenge was threefold. First, the volume was significant: over 22,000 words spanning the app interface, onboarding journey, terms and conditions, privacy policy, regulatory disclosures and automated customer communications. Second, the financial terminology needed to be precise — Czech banking language has specific conventions that differ meaningfully from Slovak, and the client had previously used Slovak translators who produced subtly incorrect Czech. Third, the KYC (Know Your Customer) onboarding flow required particularly careful handling: confusing or unnatural language at the identity verification stage causes users to abandon the process, directly impacting activation rates.
The client had a hard launch date tied to a Czech marketing campaign already in production. Delays were not an option.
What We Did
Czech Localization began with a discovery session with the client's product and compliance teams to understand the platform architecture, user journey and any existing terminology decisions. We then built a comprehensive Czech banking terminology glossary covering 280 product-specific terms — from account types and payment methods to regulatory disclosures and interest rate language.
The project was structured into four parallel workstreams to meet the deadline:
-
Core app interface — all UI strings, navigation, dashboard elements, transaction history and notification copy (8,600 words)
-
KYC and onboarding flow — identity verification screens, document upload prompts, selfie capture instructions and approval/rejection messaging, with particular attention to tone at each step of the user journey (3,200 words)
-
Legal and regulatory documentation — terms and conditions, privacy policy, cookie policy, fee schedules and mandatory regulatory disclosures under Czech National Bank (CNB) requirements (7,800 words)
-
Customer communications — welcome emails, transactional notifications, marketing opt-in messaging and customer support templates (2,800 words)
All legal content was delivered with a side-by-side English source reference to enable the client's legal team to conduct their own review efficiently. A post-delivery terminology consistency check was also performed across all four workstreams before final handover.

The Challenge
A Dutch cryptocurrency exchange was preparing for its Czech market launch in alignment with the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. MiCA introduced strict requirements around how crypto-asset service providers communicate with retail users — including mandatory disclosures, risk warnings and white paper documentation in the local language of each market served.
The client faced three simultaneous challenges: the MiCA documentation needed to be legally precise and consistent with EU regulatory language; the platform interface needed to feel natural and trustworthy to Czech crypto users; and the marketing content needed to balance regulatory compliance with compelling copy.
A general translation agency had quoted for the work but lacked the specialist knowledge of MiCA terminology and Czech fintech language conventions required. The client needed a partner who understood both the regulatory framework and the market.
What We Did
Czech Localization developed a dedicated MiCA terminology framework for the client before beginning any translation work — mapping the official EU regulatory language from the MiCA regulation text to natural, legally consistent Czech equivalents. This framework was then applied consistently across all documentation.
The project covered four content streams delivered in parallel:
-
MiCA compliance documentation — risk disclosures, crypto-asset white paper, investor warnings and CASP (Crypto-Asset Service Provider) terms (9,200 words)
-
Platform UI localization — trading interface, wallet management, KYC onboarding flow and account settings (5,100 words)
-
Help centre and FAQ content covering MiCA-specific user questions (2,800 words)
-
Czech market launch marketing content — landing page, email campaign and app store listing (1,400 words)
All compliance documentation was delivered with a parallel reference document mapping each Czech term to its MiCA source text, enabling the client's legal team to verify accuracy without Czech language expertise.

The Challenge
A Swedish health and wellness app — covering workout tracking, nutrition logging, meditation and sleep analysis — had grown to 4 million users across Scandinavia and the UK and was preparing a Central European expansion starting with the Czech Republic.
The app's brand voice was a core part of its product: warm, motivating and personal — the tone of a knowledgeable friend rather than a clinical health platform. The challenge was not simply translating the words but preserving that voice in Czech, where the language has formal and informal registers that need deliberate handling. Using the wrong register in a wellness app — too formal, too stiff — kills the warmth that makes the product work.
A further complication was the App Store and Google Play listing: Czech App Store descriptions and keyword fields required careful localisation to maximise organic search visibility in the Czech store, not just a word-for-word translation of the English listing.
The client also needed AI post-editing — they had used an AI tool to produce a first draft of the lower-priority content to reduce costs, and needed a native expert to bring it up to the quality standard of the hand-translated content.
What We Did
Czech Localization began with a brand voice workshop with the client's content team to define the Czech tone of voice parameters: informal register throughout, motivating but not aggressive, warm and personal without being patronising. These guidelines were documented and applied consistently across all content.
The project covered five content areas:
-
Core app UI — all screens across workout, nutrition, meditation and sleep modules including unit conversions, date formats and Czech-specific health metric conventions (4,200 words — hand translated)
-
Onboarding and personalisation flow — goal-setting screens, health profile questions and personalised recommendation copy, where tone is most critical to first-impression retention (1,400 words — hand translated)
-
Push notifications and in-app messages — motivational prompts, reminder copy, achievement messages and streak notifications requiring punchy, energetic Czech (900 words — hand translated)
-
App Store and Google Play listing — title, subtitle, description and keyword fields optimized for Czech store search behaviour (600 words — hand translated)
-
Secondary content — FAQ, settings descriptions and legal summaries (2,700 words — AI post-edited)
The AI post-editing workstream involved a full review of the machine-translated draft, correcting terminology, register inconsistencies and unnatural phrasing throughout. A quality comparison report was provided showing the volume and nature of changes made, which the client used internally to assess their AI tooling.
